Smiley 1936 July21 (Cont.) 6 P. maniculatus, 1 Peromyscus erinaceus Evening: Set mouse traps: (1) 20 in area of Artemesia, 4mi. S Diessner, 5800ft, Washoe Co., Nev. Chrysothamnus & some grass. Artemesia 1 foot high over most of area but 3 feet high in mottled spots. (2) 15 m.traps 4mi. SW Diessner, 5800ft, Washoe Co., Nev. in damp area with Sedges, grass-like, growing to height of two feet. A tender grass at base of sedges lying flat on ground due to activity of small toads and mice. In entire area, 100 feet square, one path of mud-encrusted grass was seen; looked like a Microtus path. July22 Caught in area (1) 1 Lagurus, 10 Peromyscus manic., In area (2) Caught 4 Microtus montanus, 5 Peromyscus maniculatus. Moved Camp from 1/2 mi. N Vya, 6000ft, Washoe Ca., Nev. to a point 5mi. NE Summit Lake, 5900ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. Set 15 mouse traps in area of Artemesia, Chrysothamnus, & some grass; nw-facing slope of 3° - very slight. July23 In traps caught 4 Peromyscus maniculatus, and 1 Microtus mordax. Shot 1 Eutamias minimus in boulders along rim of hill. Set 50 mouse traps, in area 1/2 mi. N Quinn River Crossing, 4100ft, Humboldt Co., Nev. 35 traps set on rocky hill 300 feet high with sedimentary rock
