smiley 1936 15 mi. NNW Deephole, 5500 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 14 In 35 traps set last night caught 2 Neotoma lepida, 1 Eutamias sp. and 13 Peromyscus maniculatus Moved temporary camp to: 1 mi. W. Hausen, 4650 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Set 100 mouse traps and three rat traps 2 1/2 mi. SE Hausen, 5200ft, Washoe Co., Nev. Traps set (40 of them) under Junipers on north-facing slope of 10°. Ground with angular rocks (hard, reddish gray sediment) sizes from 2 inches in diameter to 10 inches, averaging six inches. Artemesia conspicuous ground vegetation. Little grass. Area had been flooded recently. Gave appearance of gentle talus slope in which much fine grayish tan sediment had partly embedded the rocks. Three rat traps set near wood rat houses under Junipers. 60 traps set in wind-blowable sand-silt with slight crust due to rain during last month. Major plant Sarcobatus with some Artemesia. This on eastern rim of a valley in which water would flow north toward pass road.
