Smiley 1936 Rock Creek, 5000 ft. Granite Mt., Washoe Co., Nev. July 13 In traps set last evening caught 1 Parognathus parvus and 15 Peromyscus maniculatus. The former on periphery between brush and Artemesia, P. maniculatus - beside stream, in brush and in Artemesia - Balsamorrhiza association. 4 P.M. Moved Camp. Drove through Gerlach and northwestward to Silver Bell Mine, 5150 ft., Granite Range, Washoe Co., Nev. collected 1 Corynorhinus rafinesquii. Drove 2 miles back to main road and onward to camp; 15 mi. NNW Deephole, 5500 ft. Washoe Co. Nev. Set 35 mouse traps averaging 25 paces apart on south-facing slope (10° slope). of low hill. Juniper trees 10-30 feet in height spaced at 25 paces from one another. several low outcrops of reddish lava rock (20 feet long x 4 feet high). Angular rocks up to 2 feet in diameter with lower surface embedded in sandy soil - abundant. Space between rocks with dry spears of grass (Festucace) and sagebrush 12 to 18 inches high.
