Smiley 1936 2 1/2 mi. E Flanigan, 4250 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. July 6 From traps set lost night obtained: 3 Neotoma lepida, 4 Perognathus formosus, 2 Peromyscus crinitus, 1 Peromyscus maniculatus sonoriensis, 3 Dipodomys merriami, 1 Dipodomys microps, 4 Perognathus longimembris. Moved camp from 1 1/2 mi. NW Flanigan, 4200 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. to a point on Smoke Creek, 3900 ft., 9 mi. E Calif. line 3900 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Made camp in abandoned ranch house, one Story with semi-attic. Two Neotoma cinerea taken by Russel before retiring. I took 2 Myotis californicus and 1 Corynorhinus rafinesquii pallescens. At 6:00 PM set 47 mouse traps and 8 rat Distance between traps averaged 20 paces. traps at: 40° 28' N, 6 mi. E Calif. line, 4000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. obtained 1 Phrysonoma douglasii Terrain: East-facing slope of hill 1000 feet high, one of a series of hills running north and south. slope variable 45° and less. Areas of large Sage in wind-blown sand. Rock outcrops calcareous hot spring deposit over surface of igneous (?) rock. Some sandy areas covered with pebbles which were angular and intermixed with angular boulders. Some grass (dry) from sand between pebbles. Sage predominant plant. Rock outcrops fissured with abundant wood rat sign except on SE, direction of prevailing wind.
