Smiley 1936 July 5 In traps set N side Sand Pass, 3950ft, Washoe Co., Nev. Caught the following species: Dipodomys merriami, D. ordii, Microdipodops sp., Perognathus longimembris, megalotus megalotus Rheithrodonmys (2 specimens), Peromyscus maniculatus Sanorrensis (1 specimen). In traps set at rocky outcrop above Sand Pass one Peromyscus Grinitus caught; ants partially destroyed cars so specimen not saved. Following birds observed while at Round Hole this AM: Magpie (domesticated), Canadian Goose (domesticated), Arkansas kingbird, barn swallow, Wilson phalarope, mallard, meadowlark, Kildeer, mourning dove, English Sparrow, Brewer blackbird. Set 35 mouse traps: 2.4 mi. E Flanigan, 4280ft, Nashoe Co., Nev; also 5 rat traps. On south-facing slope of hill. Mouse traps set on blow-sand near base of slope and on hard, pebble-strown area above (7) sandy slope. Rat traps in vicinity of small rock outcrops and where 2 or more boulders lay together. Sandy slope took imprint of hobnails. Above, the slope was semi-paved with Schistose bits of sedimentary rock so that foot prints did not show much. Rock outcrops (averaged 6 feet high and 10 feet long) were igneous (?); these little fractured. Plants: Porselia Sarcobatus, Artemesia, Small, lavender-flowered legume.
