Smiley 1936 July 4 Drove from camp at 1 1/2 mi. NW Flanigan to point where traps were set last night: 4 mi. NW Flanigan. 4200 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. obtained 37 specimens. These taken to camp and gutted as follows: 1 Dipodomys microps levieus 5 Dipodomys merriami 5 Dipodomys ordii columbianus 16 Microdipodops sp. 3 Perognathus longimembris 1 Peromyscus maniculatus sanoriensis 5:00 PM Drove, Rostruck with Ward Russell to Round Hole approx. 15 miles north of Flanigan. I set no traps there. On return trip set 45 mouse traps in sand dune area N side Sand Pass, 1350 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Traps averaged 25 paces apart. This wind-blown Sand without conspicuous dune structure, merely drifted against base of plants where there were open burrows of kangaroo rats and smaller burrows mostly plugged with sand. Plants not known; one conspicuous plant a legume, tiny purple flowers, pinnate leaves, and sturdy stem Aug 17, identification; Porogela structure. On rocky outcrop above Sand Pass, set two mouse traps and one rat trap. Outcrop at brow of hummocky hill 200 ft. elevation above pass. Rock Calcareous (?) covered in spots by several-colored lichens. Wood rat sign in crevices between rocks.
