Artemesia association. July 7 40°28' N 6 mi. E Calif. Line, 4000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Two caught in area of wind-blown sand and tall sagebrush (Artemesia) on hillside (with slope 30% to 45%. See General acct. for July 6. July 9 Smoke Creek, 3900 ft., 9 mi. E Calif. Line, Washoe Co., Nev. In 30 mouse traps caught ten. Mostly at the damp periphery of stream (Smoke Creek). Tules and cat-tails in spotty distribution at edge of creek. Cottonwoods variable extending in abundance back from creek. Underbrush wild rose. July 10 17 mi. W Deephole, 4800 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. See General Account for July 9. 5 caught in the fifty traps set. July 12 3 mi. E 10 mi. N Gerlach, 4000 ft., Washoe Co., Nev. Area of silt-sand, slightly dune-like crusted over by recent rain (within past month?). Many rodent burrows deserted, with spider webs over entrances. One specimen taken.
