50+ ft., Punta Peñasca, Sonora
April 1, 1938, continued.
Set out 21 rat-traps in the large rocks; after
dark set out 60 mousetraps on rocky-hill (windward side).
April 2, 1938
In rat-traps 8 Peromyscus eremicus (5σ; 3♀♂) and
no rats; in mousetraps 4 " " (4σ♂) and
one Peroqnathus intermedius (σ7108). Put up specimens;
recovered four “lost” rat-traps with Dr. Benson who found
in the sand near the beach a raccoon skull (5013, 388).
Got the truck out of its hole in the sand, loaded it,
and went up to the fishing village where we purchased
some water (@ 10 centavos/gallon; it is hauled from Sonota),
borrowed a fish-line and hooks, and drove around the bay
to:
50+ ft., Cerro La Cholla, 6 mi. [illegible] Punta Peñasca, Sonora.
Made camp near the beach on a large concrete slab

60 mousetraps and 10 rat traps in the granite hills.

Caught 2 Peroqnathus intermedius (σ7109, σ7110), 1 Peromyscus
eremicus (σ7111), 3 P. eremicus (σ7112, ♀113, and a ♀), and 1 Nestoma lepida
(♀116) in the granite-rock hills; a Dipodomys merriami (σ7115) in
the crushed granite flats between the rock-hills and the sand.
After putting up our catch (Senor Delgadillo helped me) Dr.
Benson and I hiked across Cerro La Cholla to the larger bay
(Punta Peñasca on far shore) shore where we saw a large sea-lion.
That night after dinner we went again across the hills to
