JESimpson,1938 Neotoma lepida 775±ft., Tinajos de los Papagos, Sierra del Pinacate, Sonora March 24,1938 From 21 traps set in large, lava boulders along dark- wash at the tanks took 2 N.l. bensoni (♂58emb; ♀59emb). 50±ft., Punta Peñasca, Sonora. April 1,1938. ♂7107 taken in large lava rocks on lee-side of hill from bay of Gulf. The pelage was much lighter and more highly colored than others seen— being orange-tan, light-tan, and golden-tan. 50±ft., Cerro La Cholla, 6 mi. nww Punta Peñasca, Sonora. April 3,1938. ♀116(no emb.) taken in granite blocks of hill near bay of Gulf among creosote, ocotillo, and cholla. Houses in rocks made up of parts of the above plants—much cholla spines among it. April 5,1938. ♂7123 and ♀124 caught among ocotillo and creosote on granite hills. The male had very light colored pelage. 100±ft., Cerro Prieto, 6 mi. nw Punta Peñasca, Sonora April 7,1937. ♂7134, ♂7135, and ♀136 taken in, lava no emb. dark rocks on hill (some ocotillo and cholla). 950±ft., 5 mi. sw Las Alegrias, 23 mi. wsw Caborca, Sonora April 20,1938. Five(2j♂7and ♂7203,204; ♀205) among creosote, no emb. forote, ocotillo, and saquero on grande hill; bot-fly larvae on all five throats.
