Magdalena, Sonora March 17, 1938 One, highly colored stub-tailed, taken at base of large saguaro in rocky, brush-filled arroyo (σ'35) 775±ft., Tinajas de los Papajos, Sierra Pinacate, Sonora March 22, 1938 Two pocketmice (σ'44, σ'45) taken in dark lava field ¼ mi. sw Papagotanks (mostly ochotillo and creosote). March 23, 1938 One (♀07, stub) atop a rocky hill in a large, levelly small-rock, [dark] lava field; no others taken on the level field. The pouches contained many small seeds which were saved in MV2 pill box. March 24, 1938 1000±ft., 2 mi. ne Tinajas de los Papajos, Sierra Pinacate, Sonora (60-65, JES) Nine (one ♀emb) in coarse dark sand (cinders) at base of Sykes(2.) crater. Creosote was dominant plant with few ochotillo and occasional mesquite. These nine taken in mousetraps (30 set out); none in 30 live-traps. 850±ft., Paso M°Dougal, Pinacate Region, Sonora. March 25, 1938 Along east face of Sierra Hornaday (mazonite and granite) caught one σ' and tail of another (skull broken of former). 50±ft., Punta Peñasca, Sonora. April 1, 1938. σ'104 and σ'105 taken in lava on hill-side (on lee-side from bay and wind) in consecutive traps
