Twelve (3 in live-traps; put up o→263-67; cheek-
pouch contents saved.) taken on tan, sandy soil
among dry grass, palo verde, palo fierro, and
mesquite. Many of the o→ had expanded testes.

One o→ taken in wheat field bordered by corn-
field and mesquite (not saved). Dr. Benson took many
at border of field near mesquite in soft ground.
May 3, 1938.
One o→taken in live-trap in corn-field bordered
by wheat field and mesquite. This pocket-mouse was
found dead in the live-traps, bloody and battered; per-
haps it killed itself trying to escape — the cold of
the night would help.
