conspicuous identification characters. However, we found,when we broke camp and drove on, that we were less than two miles"n from Rancho de la Primavera where we got water and information. The mountains 4-5 miles east of camp are called the Sierra de Jojoba with Sierra del Viejo 12-15 miles to the west and northwest. Drove on 8.6 miles to El Datil, 12.3 mi. to Puerto del Picu, and 18.7 miles more to Puerto Libertad where , it being after dark, we had some difficulty find a camp near the rocky hills. However, we left the road and drove straight (!!) to the base of a steep,rock-hill and made camp:

Set out 50 mousetraps in dark along walls of arroyo cutting steep, rotten-granite hill among creosote,torote, ocotillo, copal, bara blanca, and palo fierro and palo verde.
April 26,1938.
Caught only 3 Peromyscus eremicus (♂?v. 246; ♀ 247,248 ; both ♀ had well developed mammae). The party catch was also poor; total for the 3: 1 Perognathus intermedius and 8 Peromyscus eremicus. Put up specimens and broke camp; drove to Puerto Libertad after scouting around a bit. The village consists of 6-8 shacks
