3. Shyffn 1976. Journal Feb. Mexico: Veracruz, vicinity Cerro Orizaba, this slope the same as before, i again in the wood-chip clearing there were many Thories. There were also at least 2 Psocids - one small one that Carlos got may be an immature beli, i another larger one I got looks much like those collected near San Bernardino. In all we got 50 Thories & 5 Psocids (4 of one type, & the beli) in about 2 hours. Also, as we walked in there was a nice road bank, where we collected 8 Scelops of at least 2 types. however, it was much too dry for salamanders. Also, as we walked I turned 3 logs by the side of the road. They were completely exposed, in the open in a field. On the first sifting through I got 15 Hyla under them - than on the way back Carlos + I got 8 more. As we headed for the car it rained very hard for a good hour - so it is not truly dry season! As we left we tried to collect one more spot, but it was dry with no wood or rocks to turn - we not anything, & headed back to Cuatlapam. We then left with many final farewells, i spent the night in Fortin at the Hotel Margey Mayorq. 120 pesos for 2.
