B. Shelly 1976 Journal Mexico: Veracruz, Cerro Chichahuatl. 1 Jan. and was drier than the summit. I also worked a few yards of a dry creek bed, hoping to find frogs, but found it to be very dry, although the air in the small gully it formed was very humid. I also worked some stones around a running creek with no success. All together we got 17 salamanders and two tadpoles, not much for a hell of a lot of work. This evening we had chile rellenos cooked the way they should be by Miguel's wife, & again she will sleep at his place. (It rained for another 15 minutes tonight). Feb. Mexico: Veracruz, Vicinity of San Bernardino + Puerto del Aire. Four of us (Carlos, Renee, Jim + I) took off toward the Puebla border via the toll road 150, toward Laguna San Bernardino. We exited on the dirt road to San Felipe, (10 km.) then went another 12 km. to our first collecting site. As we went inland on 150 the terrain became dryin till it was cactus desert. However, as we climbed toward Puerto del Aire, it became foggy till one couldn't see at all. (Note, there are 2 reverse corners, where you go on the wrong
