moist, but not soaking wet. We worked for
~ 2 1/2 hours, and only got 3 salamanders. No
other herps were seen. Ate lunch at the
crest, then decided to move further down to
look for Thorius and Panamodges. We worked
down from the crest about 200 meters, then
again started to look in extent. I got 2 B.
rufescens in a lone banana tree, and one
Lineatritus under a very large rock. Also Carlos
picked up several more rufescens and 2 Lineatritus
and Jim chopped a B. rufescens (?)
in half. This animal was inside a rotten
log in a large beetle cavity, unlike all the
other rufescens we have caught. As we were
working in this general area, a very light
shower came down for about 15 minutes. We
then went down to the casa of Victor
Solano & worked the bananas & rocks around
there. I got 2 more B. rufescens in another
banana tree, one of which was about 10 ft. off
of the ground. Also, these animals seem to be
clinging to both the tree & on the axil that
is peeled, & can be several layers into the
plant. Carlos also got more rufescens as
well as 1 Lineatritus & 1 Thorius, both under
rocks. This area was around 1100 meters.
