B. Shulfa 1977 Journal Hotel Perez, Dept. San Marcos. 10 July. Live series of both pseuds to do feeding experiments w the Thaumorphis in Chicago - I think I will do so the morning of the 12th. Hotel Perez, Dept. San Marcos. July We drove the top end of the coast road through the cloud forest down to Rubin's finca, at km. 264. This is supposed to be a good Chirpe locality, & we need some for hymn. We chopped bromeliads from km. 264 -> 262, I got nothing. After an hour or 2 we gave up & went up higher to look for resplendens for Steve. Again no luck turning stuff or working road banks. Finally we decided to get B. bromads & guebeli for feeding exp's. w the Thaumorphis. We got about 20, & 15 of them died. All in all, a great morning. We returned to the hotel around 1:30, & I spent the rest of the day reading & preserving. At night we went back out to the coast road for resplendens. It was bone dry & the car was fudging up - absolutely nothing was out. We called it around 9 PM. Hotel ? - Tecpin, Dept. San Marcos. 12 July. This morning I decided to make one last assault of the saddle in search of B. resplendens for Steve - this time working to the right as Wake had suggested. I left around 9 AM - got up top
