B.Shaffner 1977, Journal Hotel Perez, Dept. San Marcos 10 July We left El Ropozo in the morning i hit the road for San Marcos. It's about a 4-5 hour drive, & we arrived around 1:30 P.M. The hotel Perez is pleasant & not bad at $4.75/day/person, & 3 good meals. This is where Wake always stays, Paulo leg still hurts, so I went up to the saddle that is above El Rincon to look for B. resplendens & C. bronviccia. The path is a simple extension of the road - see it starts at big & dwindles down to a deeply cut stream- bed trail. There are many turns & forks, but they always all re-connect on the proper path. When you hit the pass it is unmistakable - heavy dense trey comes right up to it from the coast, & it is clear looking over San Marcos - very impressive. You can go right or left when you hit the ridge. First I went right- got 4 B. rotata under one log, & a hybrid out of a bromeliad. It continued going up & I figured I was up too high so I went left. You pass through the rosette & suddenly hit burrata + goebeli under stuff. I took a few & hit 2 Thamnophis, under word chips. I also cut ~10 bromeliads in the bruneta- goebeli belt & got nothing. It was past 5 so I came back down - arrived ~6. After returning, it occured to me that I should have picked up
