B. Shuffy 1977. Journal Panajachel, Dept. Solola. 7 July. old guy who swears like a pro, has a snow white botch hair cut, i is really funny. We talked for about 3 hours, mostly about herps (=herpets), localities, etc, but also a good deal of talk about all times, trips to Costa Rica, etc. We actually did get some info out of him - a few I.D.'s, pet plus where to go in the Cuilco's for C. rabbi i other things, but the main purpose of the trip was just to revel in his beauty. We left his place arond 6 PM. i went up to Sololá for the night. We stayed in the Hotel Salas - a nice place for $1/night/person. Meals are also served here - $.75 i really good - with running water, who could ask for more. The car has been acting up for a couple of weeks now - it won't start & must be pushed. However, after 5 days of rest it still started fine, & the ignition light is not on. This implies to me that the battery has discharged beyond the capacity of the alternator - so we are having it charged this morning at a mechanic. If it discharges again, I will check the generator in Guatemala City. Anyhow, on to Cuilco this afternoon for C. rabbi. On he yes - we got a Leptodirus septentrionalis at ~8000 ft. coming into here - to be picked.
