B.Shaffer 1977. Journal 6 July. Huehuetenango, Dept. Huehuetenago. for 1$ a piece. We ate at a chicken joint that was bad, then pickedled animals 'til 11:30 PM. We left about 8 AM, & are now at a place called "Sozi's Pancakes" - had some of the best pancakes w/ fresh berries & bananas even for 1.50$ - it's in a house, non-gringo, (at least they're not apparent) & very nice. On to Panajachel! 7 July. Panajachel, Dept. Solola We left Huehuetenago around 9:30 AM- headed South toward Panajachel. The drive is fast (60 MPH +) & easy - we stopped briefly at the forest around Zunil ridge to look for crustaceans (no luck - very dry & dusty) then hit town. It took a while to locate Stewarts' place - if you ask for Pancho mata-culebras goulebro (the snake-killer) the people all know him. Basically he lives here: Stewart's- red gate. dirt 1st left/ shell station. to the lake Main St. it's a beautiful house - I may have to retire here myself some day. Stewart is a very crusty
