Finca Chiblac, Dept. Huehuetenango.
5 July.
Finca it was raining, i've just couldn't see riding
all day in our condition- it was about noon at the
finca. Instead, we crashed out and read most of
the afternoon.
The 5th, we awoke at 5AM, packed, i hit
the road by 6:30. Arrived at 10:30 at Concepcion,
and ate breakfast. Left by 11- soon out of
town, a bus came by, which Paul took with the
live animals to Barillas. We did this to insure
against overheating them- but it rained the entire
time. Still, better safe than sorry. I rode both animals
into Barillas, arriving a few minutes before 1AM.
I ate then we met and went to Bill Keith's
place to try for more B. molieri. Paul got
a small one, i I got 2 Bubo. valliceps (?) &
i small Ninia sebae. We spent the rest
of the day prowling, writing, etc. We just paid
our bill at the hotel- I think 6 nights, plus
laundry- ran 15$- not too bad- about a buck/night/person.
We will now pack & hit the road early tomorrow.
Oh yes- on the ride out, we found a dead
Drymibus margaritiferus on the road.
