B.Shelly 1977 Journal Finca Chiblae, Dept Huerto-mango. 2 July We then took to the field - a long ago cut-over place & peeled more bark- got more big brano. They are only found under bark- but there they may be common (up to 3/piece bark). Remember that this is quite similar to the animal at Barillas, so the natural habitat may well be bromeliads. The place was hard to work, so we went on to another cleared patch & rolled logs. Under bark I got a Lepidophyrum mayae - young, & put a stainle, & more big brano under bark. We then went along the trail through a lot of virgin rainforest, & amazingly got a "lotus" under a small log in the virgin forest. We kept going 'til we hit the type locality - El Rayo. By this time it was raining & we had been out a long time. We took a break at the coffee shed by the road, than armed with elephant ears leaves as umbrellas, walked home. Oh yes, along the way we Got some Leptodactylids in the woods - both Eleutherodactylus & Syphopos, I think. Also we Got a five adult Lepidophyrum under wood chips. We got back & changed showers @ road. It rained from about 11 AM - 4 PM. then stopped - as of 7:50 PM. it is clear.
