B.Smith 1977 Journal Barillas, Dept. Huehuetenango. 29 June. lot of old cleared patches with fallen logs, bananas, good bark, rocks, etc- It looked perfect. We worked for 2-3 hours I didn't get anything. Paul got one Anolis, [illegible] one Adelphocos, nothing dse. We thought it was too low, but the road crew man told us he saw one today. Salamanay It was under the big blocks of limestone that the tractor tore up. Unfortunately we did not see it. There must be cracks that they hide in & came out at night. Anyway, we Split collected as the crest of the pass the road goes through. We worked bromeliads & got 1 Hylo & a bunch of ladybugs & split. Returned to Barillas, I took out a piece of mosquito netting to use as a net to get more Rana pipiens. We used it like a dragnet & got a more adults. We also took a few more tadpoles, a sample of the fish in the pond, and came home. Barillas, Dept. Huehuetenango 30 June. We spent most of this morning searching out mules or good horses to take to Chibral. Oddly, most of them were not out of town, either at San Ramon or Ixcán working. We finally found a guy with a really nice horse
