B. Shyft 1977 Journal Barillas, Dept. Huehuetenango. 8 June. covers in the daytime. We also got 4 tofo - something in the [illegible] group- all little guys. We quit & went across the river (rio Barillas) to a pond to get Rana pipiens. It is basically across the river from the center of town, although it is a good walk if you go over the bridge. We found a small pool ~ 8 ft. across + 6 ft. deep w/ lots of frogs. I shot 2 with the slingshot & we bought some tadp (20 /50 cents) & came home. Also, before we went frogging, we headed out to Finca La Florida, across 2 mi. NE. Barillas on the road to Chiblas. We worked a coffee field for quite a while - I got one Bolitoglossa mulleri; Paul none. We also caught 6 Ninia selbae & one Adelphicus I think. Add to that 6 more Ninia we got on the walk to the frog pond, & we got a good biochemical sample. Barillas, Dept. Huehuetenango. 29 June. We decided to go out to the road head near San Ramon (the other fork from Chiblas) since we were told they have found salamanders on the road crews. We also thought we might see some trees come down.
