Cahuita, Prov. Limon.
11-13 Sept. nothing, then finally louise got a Dendrobates auratus - really a beautiful frog. We finally got a total of 6, & by the end we discovered that they tend to stay around the large, [illegible] native trees that were still standing in the fields. These trees have big, plate-like roots, & the Dendrobats hang out near them. We found 1 frog for every 2-3 such trees. Finally the rain got too intense, & we left. We caught a bus to Limon, & spent the night at the Hotel Miami.
14-17 Sept. Tortuguero - Prov. Limon, C.R.
Louise + I decided to go to Tortuguero for a few days, to show her the sights. When we inquired, we found that Exaco is no longer flying to Tortuguero - the strip is too bad. Fortunately, Victoria still flies in, but not on the right days. So, we chartered a flight - so $ U.S. & we arrived in fine form. Basically, we spent 2 days just partying around - showed Louise the turtles, etc. I went out the night of the 16th to the frog pond by the Casa Verde - some kind of Centrolenid was calling, but I couldn't find it. I did catch a juvenile Kinosternon - angustopons, I think which is twely yellow. We left from Barra Colorado-
