Cahuita, Prov. Limon
11-13 Sept. The place was in the midst of a large mixed chorus, which I worked for about 3 hours.
There were for sure Hyla ebricata, Centrolene sp. and Agalychnis calydryas, plus at least 2 other species, 5 maybe 3. I think I got every thing that was calling. The frogs split up the march habitat pretty much by size of perch - the larger frogs on big reeds, smaller ones on blades of grass. The ebricata tended to be low, near the water, and very active. The Agalychnys was calling (a loud, metallic chick), from about 12 ft. up in a large tree - sitting on a big branch. There was another one in a nearby tree - but I couldn't find it. I took 14 frogs total, & saw a lot more.
We heard rumors that a black + green frog was inhabiting the chocolate fields near town, so the morning of the 13th we headed out there. It was pouring rain & we took off just outside of town. We look for a long time + found
