way - under leaf litter & peeling bark. However,
I also found them very commonly under very
small cover objects - logs + branches under 3"
diameter. I also found this to be so at Cujíjindaga
- under those objects in a small patch of
damp leaves I might find several animals.
I also chopped a few bromeliads, but got nothing.
However, this entire area looks very fine for
Alonria - however, not on a hot day. We pushed
on & walked another approx 1 km. Further on the
road - a very similar spot, but more exposed &
dry. We each got a few Thariss, then
moved on. We managed to hitch a ride out
the last few kms, & drove down out of the
mtns. to camp.
17 Feb.
En Route to Las Vigas, Est. Puebla + Veracruz, Mexico.
We took off early - wanted to work the localities
around Las Vigas, Veracruz, along the haul. We drove
W. on Hwy 131 thru Tehuacan, then took 125 (became
Hwy 150) N.E. toward Veracruz. Headed thru
Azumbilla, and found ourselves back at Puerto del
Aire. We took a quick look at it, & got an
entirely different perspective. Today it was dry, hot,
& clear - no fog, not cold. It also looked like dry
pasture land instead of drowned forest - we noticed
