B. Skift 1976. Journal Vicinity Santos Reyes Papilo, Est. Oaxaca, Mexico. 15 Feb. The other side. This area was not as cleared, and had five stands of pine - unfortunately it is all a precipitous slope that is really impossible to work. We stopped for a moment at a turnout on the road that had a small wood-pile - I got 5 Thorius out of it - 4 out of from under a branch not over 3" in diameter. We then turned around and decided to hit one more in this vicinity locality - we chose one 11 km. W.E. from Santos Reyes Papilo. This area has a small stream running by the road, & a steep to slope rises away from it. It is much like the 1st locality - pines + an occasional oak. Again by rolling logs, etc. I get several Thorius, as did Jim. I then worked one large (~ 2' diameter) log - peeling bark & rolled it & got ~ 15 more. Then by splitting the log along its pre- formed cracks I got at least 15 more - it was literally packed w/ Thorius. Also under the bark of this log I got one small, all- black Pseudoeurycus. No others were seen. The log certainly had many more Thorius, but we took off - always drive back in the dark on a treacherous road.
