B. Sheffield 1976. Journal Sola de Vega, Est. Oaxaca, Mexico. 13 Feb. then worked the stream, more for turtles that are reported to be in it - unfortunately we saw none. Also, no adult frogs were seen or heard. We headed back to Oaxaca early. Note - we were told that the 19 km. S. Sola de Vega locality is very wet in June + July, but it was (sort of dry) in February! Vicinity Cuajimoloyas, Est. Oaxaca, Mexico. 14 Feb. We headed out of Oaxaca City on Hwy 190 S. and at Tlacolula headed north toward the city of Diaz Ordaz. (175 x 180 -> Tlacolula tunnel is 24.3 km. by road). Go 6 km. to city of Diaz Ordaz, then go left on Calle de S de Mayo in town. This is a dirt road that heads off to the town of Cuajimoloyas. (~20 km.) The road is a steep climb up to ~3000m elevation, and we found it to be extremely dry & dusty. Once in to high elevation, the forests (and most of the area still has fine stands of forest) are primarily coniferous with an occasional small oak or madrope. Also, nettle & thistle are on the ground, and an occasional huge cagei plant is seen. Our 1st stop was 2 km. W. of town - we worked a nice-looking slope for a while, but found it completely dry, with only
