B.Shellon 1976. Journal Cerro Pelon area, Esti. Oaxaca, Mexico. 10 Feb. actual peak. Three five, we or went over the trp, looked for one more good spot to collect. Unfortunately, it is very steep on the North facing side of the mtn, so level spots are hard to got. We worked a spot on the west side of the road, just over the crest. A small stream runs down the wthn. side & crosses under the road and there are a couple of trails going up. We worked the slope all the way up to the summit - it is very steep, at times nearly vertical. This area is primarily pine although there are some deciduous oaks. Underbrush is thick at spots, but generally passable off of the trail. Jim got 3 animals working rocks on the slope, & I got no Thorics at all. I did, hovever, pick up a Sceloporus in a open sunny patch near a stream. On the way down I found a log - 4 ft long & 2 ft. in diameter, & got 5 Thorics under the back of it. The log was near the stream, & had thin bark that peeled easily. The log did not appear rotten at all. I also turned rocks near the stream, but got nothing. This area was quite dry now, but is probably wet in June + July. If worked then, undoubtably the Thorics would be fairly
