O. zonatus 21 7 Km. NW Fortin, 3300 ft., Veracruz \, May 13 At a point where the old trail takes off from the highway we stopped after hearing wrens call. The old road is lined on either side of very tall trees and on one side there is a shallow gully with orange trees (tall ones) and coffee, in addition to some native trees of good size. There were a large number of wrens present - all in a group at one time - Lamb said 20 together but I saw no more than 7 in one group. I collected 5 specimens. There are several natives living along the old trail; just across the highway there is a large native house with grove of coffee in back of this - and a good dense stand of huge native trees surrounding the house & lining the highway. \ May 14 Took 6 specimens in precisely the same spot as yesterday. \ May 15 Took 6 more specimens in precisely same spot as yesterday 2 day before. \ May 16 Took 2 more specimens & saw one more in same spot as yesterday, - a grand total of 20 inside within an area of a circle with a diameter of 100 yds. yesterday (May 15) I hunted in the coffee grove and around a cleared field across the road from the spot where the concentration of wrens occurred and found no other wrens although the habitat seemed nearly as good as in the other spot.
