K.Selander, 1954 C. humilei x chispensis 31 2.7 mi. SE Tonalá, Chiapas, México fence row March 27 Took two photos (4-1, 4-2) of the nest tree of the humilei-like lizards and also two close-ups of the nest tree (4-3, 4-4). Of the two humilei-like lizards seen today - one seemed lighter brown than the other, particularly on the lower back or rump and around the eye. Rio Tlaltetel 4.4 March 28 Rode out to the Río Amatillo, 2 mi. NW Tonala' and hunted SW of the road. Heard chispensis singing, but no evidence of humilei noted. We then drove SW from Tonala' on the road to the Rancho El Hujsachal and made a stop at the Rancho San Francisco, 2 mi. SW Tonala', where we collected two chispensis and heard several other groups. The vegetation at this point is similar to that around camp but somewhat more lush. No evidence of humilei. March 29 Up at 6:00 to study uwen behavior but was sick most of day from scorpion bites.
