87 15mi. N.NW Tacambaro June 17 Lea Edwards must have taken a side road from the highway to find "pure stands" of fir which this describe. They may have reached a higher altitude than that at which we are camped. Probably there are stands of pure fir higher up. June 18 Hunted 4 hours on other side of camps. Saw 3 C. megalopterus and shot one. Habitat was good but most of my hunting was too late in the day. Rain in afternoon & night. Hunted 1 hr. in afternoon. June 19 I hunted 2 hours in early morning in the area where I collected murex clay before yesterday, collecting 4. Made following notes on calls: ① [illegible] - given by a pair of lunds more or less in unison. ② [illegible], etc, etc. - very fast, excited call. ③ che-chut - common note - possibly forage note. This is usual call heard - may be followed by loud chatter. ④ cha-cha-che, etc. - 10 times or so - one bird gave this very loudly - sounded like a song. However it was much different from usual noises made. Apparently a good bit of foraging takes place in undergrowth beneath tall trees. Found two lunds in this today.
