Mexico City to Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas
although I risked driving to spend the night in Tapachula (and pay the additional fare).
However, the weather was O.K. at Tuxtla, although very cloudy - the plane landed at about 11:30.
Got a good view of a forested hill south of the city as we came in for the landing.
Took a taxi to the Museo Zoologico where I introduced myself to Sr. A. del Toro. Then drove to Hotel Rex. Room $13.00/day. (Hotel is new and fairly clean. Agua pura in room. New plumbing fixtures. Alvarez suggested this rather than the Barampok because of its lower prices.)
After working up I caught a taxi to Alvarez's home - 3a Porvenir 20. Talked with him for 2 hours about plans for collecting. He is to see the Governor tomorrow, provided that it doesn't rain. He can't make any plans until he has a conference with the Governa about the Museo,

Went hunting at an spot about 3 miles south of Tuxtla - a place called Zapotal. This is a collection of small farms in the foot hills of a small "mountain" to the south of Tuxtla. Rain falling all day - no signs of clearing. Hired a taxi to take me to the place but the car was unable to make it all the way because of the muddy condition of the road. One of Alvarez's boy-helpers at the Museo - name is Bonifacio - went with me on Alvarez's orders.
