I then crossed the road and hunted along the irrigation ditch, after collecting a Sclatorix coerulescens in the low thorny brush. Zonotus was common along the ditch but frequenting the dense trees on other side. As it was impossible to cross the ditch I stood near a palm and gave imitations of calls, whereupon about 6 birds flew across the ditch and into the palm (a tall frond type). I collected 3 birds from this group - probably 8 or so were present. I then moved on about 50 yds and repeated the imitations, collecting a ? which flew across the ditch.
