44 Region of Rio Papaloapan May 23 the ground, while before this point the grass is rather sparse & definitely dry. As you continue towards Ciudad Aleman the vegetation is dark green evergreen in contrast to light green - deciduous & mixed vegetation around Boca del Rio camp & La Tinaja. The change is particularly striking because between La Tinaja and Tierra Blanca the vegetation is particularly low & dry. There are a few stands of lixoso shrubs, however, as at the point 2 mi. N Tierra Blanca, where we found a pair of rujincha. Between 15 mi. SW Cosamaloapan & Ciudad Aleman there are no stands of vegetation worth investigating for rujincha so whole area is in cultivation. If they are drier and more like veg at last camp up around Loma Bonita, where we will hunt tomorrow. Zonotus taken today: Some birds with quite a good bit of fat around neck interclavicular area, some with little or none. - Noted this in catalogue. May 24 Drone to hunt 3.5 mi.
