I was told by the chief Aduana officer (an American- hater if I ever saw one) that I must get permission to import the gun and ammunition from Sr. Moreno Lopez, Subdirector of the Direccion de Aduanas, 4th floor of the Palacio Nacional (in the Plaza), at that office I contacted Sr. Moreno hopey -- but he speaks no English. However an aide (?) informed me that the Subdirector of the Direccion de Aduanas could not issue orders to the aeropuerto Aduana unless I obtain a permit for importation from General Sanchez Lamego, Departamento de la Industria Militar -> back where I started !! Next I contacted Mr. A. Shone at the Embajada Americana. He in turn again called Sra. Montalvo and explained the situation. He was told by her that I should be at the office of General Sanchez Lamego at 9:00 A.M. tomorrow with a request in writing. With this development I cancelled my reservation on the Mex. de Aviacion flight to Tuxtla which was scheduled for
