27 Chicula - Matias Romero, Oaxaca May 4 greater parts of the forest on the hills or higher on the hills some distance to the west from the town. The wind is blowing so hard from the north that it is impossible to hunt. Chicula valley is separated from a smaller valley, in which Matias Romero is located by a low ridge of hills. The whole area is fairly flat, however, and forms the dividing line between the hot, dry Poifoi lowlands & the humid Atlantic lowlands. Natal Celinita about 5mi., Chicula so it doubt- less comes into contact w Psilochenus in this area. humilis probably doesn't occur farther north than Lagunas Matias Romero and it possibly goes only to Cienega, but this is unlikely. Just beyond (N) Matias Romero we saw 100% black-headed tyke guills in a flock flying against the wind, low t the ground, and heading directly north. The followed the gulley or small valleys and seemed to be having a tough time making progress.. Headed along highway from Tehuantepec to Oaxaca with plan to join Chester Lamb near Jucar de Matamoros.
