25 Jalimnus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico May 2 In early morning drove to Rio Ostuta, 6 mi. W Zantepec and hunted for C. humilis for 4 hours along the river north from the road. Collected 11 specimens - also took Aimophila reflexa which is abundant in dry vegetation in the whole area, Thryothorus pleurostictus, and Calitta - the latter more abundant than anywhere & leave them. Saw Ortalis vetula, Cassiculus melanicterus, Joturus punctulatus, yellow warbler, comorant, green heron, Arctiga canicularis, Amazona allifrons (abundant), Centurne (common). In afternoon drove to Rio Guamal, 8 mi. E Niltepec (dry river bed 30 yds wide) and set up camp. Vegetation same as at Rio Ostuta. C. humilis common, Ortalis vetula, Amazona allifrons, Cassiculus melanicterus, Joturus punctulatus, Chorileus actipennis (one), pygmy owl present. Skinned birds. May 3 Ortalis calling nearly in early morning. Cassiculus very active in quinceaste trees near the car. Collected 19 C. humilis , in early night we moved into the Tehuantepec Hotel. May 4 40mi. N of P.A. Highway on road thru Chivela and Matias Romero, (Rincon Antonio) - Hunted in a subdeciduous forest similar to that at Santa Rita - a bit drier perhaps. No wrens. Strong south wind blowing and very cloudy. Heard brown jay call. Also heard green jay several times - Wrens should occur in parts of the forest which extends from Matias Romero north. Also there are some hills with a subdeciduous forest & epiphytes near
