R.K.Selander, 1954 13 Vicinity of Tonalá, Chiapas, Mexico March 31 - April 14 - See species accounts of Compsalophorus migracaudatus, humilis, and chiapensis. April 7- Heavy thunder & rain during night. April 8- Cloudy all day - A little rain around 9:30 P.M. -a downpour for a few minutes. April 15 Returned to Tuxtla Gutiérrez and stayed at the Hotel Banampok. April 16 Tuxtla Gutiérrez. April 17 Drove to San Cristóbal and spent afternoon talking with Frans Blom, 38 Avenida Vicente Guerrero. He said it is not possible to drive the road south of town (there are worn records 347 mi.S). The road is gravel from here to Comitán and then paved to the border. There is a norther hanging over San Cristobal and the Central Depression but Blom thinks it may blow away in a few days. - After climbing out of the valley in which San [illegible] Cristobal is located the road passes through a narrow canyon with a few small flat "wallaps" to the side of the road. We pulled off the road at a point about 6 mi. SE San Cristóbal and made camp in a grassy area surrounded on three sides by pine-oak forest. Camped about 100 yds. from the road. Set up tent, ate, and went to bed. A drizzling fog tonight but no wind.
