R.K. Selander, 1954 6 5 mi. SE Nombre de Dios, +/- 6200 ft., Durango, Mexico. March 12 Suit able for cactus worms with especially good stands of large tuna cactus around Nombre de Dios. Much of the land adjacent to the road has been cleared for farming around Nombre de Dios but good stands of cactus remain on the lower slopes of the hills. Noted 10 or more Chordeiles acutifennis flying near the Rio Mezquital at Nombre de Dios at about 6:30 P.M. Saw several shrikes (L. ludovicianus) north of Durango, at 7:30 we pulled off the road and made camp in a clump of mezquite (?) trees about 5 mi. SE Nombre de Dios, +/- 6200 ft. There is very little of the original vegetation remaining in the valley here_ much of the area being in cultivation, The wind is blowing rather hard from the west. March 13 Continued along highway to Dapuateo, Guanajuato. Went to Chester Lamb's place but he was away, having left for Oaxaca. He left a note with his wife giving in- structions for locating his camp near Tapanatepec, Oaxaca. We stayed the night at lamb's. The Lamb's have rented the lower floor of their house to a Mr. Blandina and his wife. He is a "senator" from Guanajuato. Mrs. Lamb said that Chester still is in poor condition from his trouble this past fall. March 14 Drove to Mexico City and took a room at the Waldorf Hotel (45 pesos). We drove thru Celaya, Queretaro,
