R.K. Selanders, 1953 H. chiapensis Tonalá, 180 ft., Chiapas, México Oct. 24 Specimen: 1651: left wing - 3 central g.s.c.(upper) ensheathed; scapulars such. Rt. wing similar. Dorsal pteryla unsheathed, also ventral. Under tail coverts very short, such. Rt auto rectrix unsheathed. Upper tail coverts on right side unsheathed. Specimen 1650: iris light brown rimmed with a gray cuff. Feet & legs dull blueish slate. Fjv. Specimen 1651: iris & dull olive brown - light. legs and feet same as 1650. Fjv. Skulls of these two were unossified, but 1650 was beginning ossification in the post-center region. This specimen also had a larger anary - apparently older than the other, yet they were together in the same flock! Anary of 1650 saved. Oct. 25 SE Tonalá, 180 ft., Chiapas, México Specimen 1654: iris full reddish brown - just about the color of the wood of the weight box. Feet & legs blueish slate. left wing: Primary 10+ upper coverts old; 9-8+ outer [illegible] just a bit unsheathed ensheathed. Sec. 1 new, mostly, 2 short, 6 unsheathed a little, alula & covert such. Sheaths under prim. coverts: side 2-3 old, then 2 such; rest new - dark key. Under second (greater) ensheathed, Rt wing similar. Specimen 1655: left wing: Prim. 10-9 old, &ench. other ed. 5-7 ends; All u.p. cov. general, old; alula & covert old - Peculiar - prepared with wing expanded. Iris a dull pale brown.
