Oct. 28 Specimen 1641 = iris totally reddish-brown, perhaps a little darker than in specimens of zonatura I examined a few days ago. Center of eye block. Iris redder than the color of the dorsum. Maxille totally black or grayish-black. Mandible gray beneath and half-way up on sides - grayish black at tip. Legs and feet a slate grayish blue or rather bluish gray. Base of tongue dull orange or brownish orange.
Plumage: All tail feathers except 2 central (= 1-1) ensheathed. Belly feathers ensheathed. A few feathers on post. dorsum ensheathed but mostly not. Few on back ensheathed. Few on head and breast,
Right wing: Primaries : Outer 2 old, 8 short and ensheathed, 7 ensheathed ? Others new or full grown. 10th upper covert short & ensheathed, 9th old, others new and full grown. Secondaries : 1st. ensheathed just a base, 2 short, 3, 4, 5, old, 6 ensheathed a base, 7, 8, 9 new and full grown ; greater & lesser coverts (secondary) all new + full. - All under counts along secondaries (1 row) are ensheathed . Inner most greats under primary coverts new, other ones along line to wing tip ensheathed, outer 2 old. These greats under primary coverts (1/row nearest primaries are dusky; all other under wing coverts are white
left wing: Primaries similar to right but a little behind. Secondaries similar or. Coverts similar.
Primary coverts dropped just a little before the primary.
