Tonala, 180 ft., Chiapas, Mexico
Oct. 25 Hunted from 6-11 A.M. south east of the town. At about
6:30 I took a H.chiepensis in a situation similar
to that in which I have found these birds during
the last few days. Birds very active in early morning.
Unbelievable numbers of parrots, grackles, doves,
and herons all over southeast of town. Noted
the following species:
Phalacrocorax sp. - undoubtedly olivaceus
- about 15 in the river.
Mysteria americana - 5-10
Egretta thula = leucophoyx thula - 20+ in
river. Had a good look at the yellow feet.
Casmerodius albus - 5-10
Buteo magnirostris - common; specimen.
Hypomorphus urbitinga - several.
Falco sparverius - several.
Charadrius vociferus - 3 or more along river
Zonaida asiatica - abundant
Scardafella inea - "
Aratinga corypolaris - abundant
Piaya cayana - common
Crotaphaga sulcirostris - abundant
Ceryle torquata - 2 on river.
Motmotus mexicanus - fairly common; specimen
Centurus sp. ?
Musciwora forficata - few in flock.
Pitangues sulphuralus - abundant
