Tonalá, 500 ft., Chiapas, México
Oct. 24 and in full bloom but no meilode noted, Lycaen abundant and several snakes seen.
Numerous trails leading here and there south of the town. Many cows in the numerous pastures,
Airlia map gives 180 ft. for Tonalá which Holdman gives 500 ft. - Must find what the true altitude is. [= 180 feet is about right].

Noted following birds south of town:
Corcorant, presumably P. olivaceus - on near river.
Butorides virescens 2 near pools of stagnant water near river.
Casmerodius allures? - 3 in river
Nycteria americana - several in river with bison.
Falco sparverius - several seen between Arriaga and Tonalá this morning.
Scardafella rica - common everywhere.
Colomba (flavirostris?) - common
Trogon sp - one
Motmotus mexicanus - few
Muscovora forficata - fairly common. 50 or so seen in several flocks near Arriaga,
Pitangus sulphuratus - common
*Calutia formosa - common.
*Campylohydrus chiapensis - 2
*Turdus grayi (common - specimen not saved),
Polioptila sp - few thousand or so flocking into trees
Cassidix mexicanus - near hotel at dusk.
