Aimophila ruficanda
accumulata
August 20 Mexcala and 8 mi. S Mexala, 3000 ft., Guerrero, Mexico.
Several bands of + 8 birds each in mesquite (?). Very
wiled and difficult to approach. Note soft and wren-
like. Calling almost continually. Flight between
mesquite bushes direct and near the ground. Constantly
on the go. Looks rather tend to hold well together.
Seemed to prefer riparian situation rather than dry hillrides
of thorny lunkes & cacti. Specimen obtained but
spoiled on way to Pie de la Cuesta.
August 26 Pie de la Cuesta, 20 ft., Guerrero, Mexico - Two
(a pair?) along a fence about 300 yds from
the laguna, perched in small brush. Shot one
(an adult or ); the other flew to base of a palm
and perched. Later noted two more (together)
in small tree in dry place near highway to
Coyuca.
Aug. 28 About 5 seen in vegetation along fences. One
juvenile noted and shot. One adult obtained also.
