August 7 2 mi. S Coatepec, 3200 ft., Veracruz, Mexico. - Two found along river acting much like dipper.
Flew from rock to rock. Silent. One obtained by a long shot with a half-lead.
August 11 3 mi. N Jalapa, 4500 ft., Veracruz, Mexico. - A single bird flew upstream past our camp this morning, passing for a moment on a large rock. Noted it dips a number of times in manner of a spotted sand piper.
