R.Salander, 1952 2 Campsylorhynchus zonatus Cerro Higuera, 200 ft., 20 mi. W Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico August 4 of the trees. In skinning the birds I noted them to be looser skinned than C. megalopterus, but this may have been a result of the heat. Will hone to check further on this. Beak and legs are decidedly yellow - a corn yellow or a dark yellow. Iris of adults like that of C. megalopterus. Iris of juveniles pale blue. August 5 No evidence of zonatus today in the vicinity; Apparently rare here. August 7 2 mi. S Costepec, 3700 ft., Veracruz, Mexico. Found two birds feeding in a coffee bush near a cobble-stone road at 9:30. Rather quiet. Calls not recorded, but very simple, something like a nasal
