K.Selander, 1952 Caloitta (formosa) Aug 21 Pie de la Cuesta, 20 ft, Guerrero, Mexico. - one taken in large, thorny bush. Only one seen. Aug 23 Flock of 5 passed low one in open space between two good-sized broad-leaved trees. Calling harshly. One individual swerved from the flock and flew into the tree above my head - [illegible] This individual remained perched in the tree for about 50 seconds, squawking loudly while the other 4 birds continued their flight too a group of trees about 100 yds away. Aug. 26 one lone bird on top of small bush near highway to Coyuca. August 28 3 seen; 1 taken. Rather wary; harsh but rather soft notes given.
