Aug. 21) 7 km. W Pie de la Cuerta, 10 ft., Guerrero, Mexico. At 9:00 P.M. hunted with flashlight in grassy fields dotted with thorny bushes. Located about 5 different individuals by reflection of light from their eyes. All found on ground. Shot two, an adult (which I prepared) and a juvenile (too badly damaged for a skin). As a rule, the birds remained motionless and were easily approached, although in two flew when we were about 30 yds from them. Reported (by the local Mexicans) very common around Pie de la Cuerta.
