Jacana spinosa
August 21 Piede la Cuesta, 20ft., Guerrero, Mexico. - Four
feeding in boggy patch in mangroves. Very noisy,
flying short distance when disturbed. Held wings
up after alighting.
August 23 Took a specimen in grassy-boggy field. Several
others seen.
August 24 Apparently rather common in this area, frequenting
bogs and marshes. Not actually in the mangroves,
unles there is standing water and bog there.
Flight is strong, direct, and near the ground.
Frequently seen in twoo (pairs?).
Aug. 25 "Montosa" Island, sea level, Laguna Coyuca, Guerrero,
Mexico. - 2 noted in marshy area near western
edge of the island.
Aug. 26 Piede la Cuesta, 20ft., Guerrero, Mexico. - Several
seen in marshy area.
Aug. 28 4 in boggy area.
